Zanzibar earned its name 'Spice Island' here — cloves, nutmeg, cardamom, vanilla. A sensory walk through a working farm.
Zanzibar is famously known as the ‘Spice Island’ because of its rich history in spice cultivation. This tour takes you to a working spice farm where you’ll see, smell and taste cloves, nutmeg, cardamom, vanilla, cinnamon and pepper growing on the plant. Guides crush leaves and peel bark to demonstrate each spice — and there’s a short tasting of tropical fruits at the end.
Runs year-round, though we may reshuffle the order depending on wind, tide, and crowds. If you want something even quieter, ask about our off-peak versions — same places, fewer other boats.
